The "trencadís" (in Catalan "broken") is a sort of mosaic made with ceramic pices together with mortar, typical of Catalan Modernist Architecture.
Trencadís technique was used for the first time in the caller of the entrance to the farm Güell in Barcelona Pedralbes Avenue. On this farm, became the sinuous architecture they need to break tiles which could not be used whole.
